Have questions before you sail? You’re not alone. Here are answers to some of the most common things guests ask us — from weather and packing tips to policies and what to expect aboard.

All tours depart from the Hood River Marina Cruise Ship Dock. You’ll receive detailed directions and parking info in your confirmation email. Please plan to arrive 5 minutes before departure so we can get everyone aboard and underway on time.

Each sail is private, with space for up to 6 guests aboard our 34-ft sloop, S/V Northern Exposure. If your group is more than 6, please contact us as we may be able to make arrangements within a sail.

We offer complimentary snacks and water on each trip. You are welcome to bring your own snacks, picnics, charcuterie, and beverages. Alcohol is welcome for 21+ guests, in moderation.

It often feels 10° cooler on the water than on land, so bring layers (a fleece or windbreaker is perfect).
Don’t forget:
Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
Comfortable shoes
Optional: your own USCG-approved life jacket
We provide life jackets, cushions, and blankets. There's also a charging station for your devices onboard.

Hood River is famous for its reliably strong winds. We’ll be truly sailing on the Columbia River! That means:
The boat will heel (lean) at times
Depending on the seat you choose, you may get a light splash
It’s always safe — but can be thrilling
We adapt every sail to the comfort level of your group. No sailing experience required.

No experience needed! You're welcome to relax and enjoy the scenery — or take the helm and help with the lines if you're curious.

Yes. Below deck you'll find a full cabin with:
- A small refrigerator
- Galley with stovetop, oven, and basic kitchenware
- A marine head (restroom)
- Seating area with table and settee
It’s a comfortable place to rest, change, or shelter from the sun. -
Yes — children of all ages are welcome. That said, you know your child best. Some may love the excitement of sailing; others may be nervous with the motion or wind. All children under 12 must wear a life jacket at all times. You may bring your own or use one of ours. Children ages 2 and under sail at no charge.

Emergency medications (we can store them accessibly).
Mobility, seating, or temperature sensitivity. We want every guest to feel safe and comfortable — and we’re happy to make small adjustments.
